When your big-venue wedding gets cancelled🙈 A gorgeous backyard wedding (Kathleen & JP)

They just can’t keep their hands off each other.

They had these big plans, you know? Big venue downtown, a large guest list, family coming in from other provinces - the whole deal. This is how weddings go and we all know how wonderful those celebrations can be.

But then COVID-19 hit. And everything changed, for everyone. No more big weddings, no more lovely downtown venues, no more bursting guest lists. Just quiet. Stay home. Shelter in place.

But that didn’t stop Kathleen and JP. Nope. They changed their plans. They pivoted, they rejigged, and they made their wedding into a waterfront shindig that Canadian summers are known for. There was even a dog (one whose favourite activity is having water splashed on him so he can “catch” it. See below).

It was perfect. And the best part? They’ll get to have their big party next year, as they plan to celebrate a year of marriage with a large reception when COVID-19 restrictions are a thing of the past. Like we say to all the couples we work with: you do you, it’s your party, you make it what you want it to be, a beautiful reflection of you.

On with the show: on the morning of her wedding, Kathleen got ready at the Four Points by Sheraton downtown with her best friend Beth. Even though they were getting married at their house, it’s fun and exciting to spend the night before one’s wedding away from one’s betrothed. Lays on that magical feeling a little more thickly. And Kathleen got dressed to kill - she looked fabulous. Her dress was adorned with so many buttons Beth’s hands became sore from all the doing up. Worth it though, worth it.

Then they wound their way north, out of Kingston and up to Verona, to Kathleen and JP’s house on the water. There they met up with their friends, families, kids, and grandkids, all while practicing social distancing in the backyard. They danced down the aisle (literally) and partied and swam the evening away. With music by AA DJs (Alex and Ayanda - book them immediately, they’re AMAZING)  the party was set.

Also, a little cheeky, but totally obvious, Kathleen and JP couldn’t keep their hands off each other! They are clearly so in love. It’s obvious to see they take pleasure in each other and in the life they’ve created together, of which you can get a sneak peak below. Friends, family, backyard swims, and love, despite social distancing.

They’ve got it all.
